By 2025, China's machine tool industry will enter a critical period of high-quality development. The China Machine Tool and Tool Association (CMTBA) recently identified three key trends: intelligent breakthroughs, ecological transformation, and accelerated domestic substitution, building a new vision for industrial upgrading.
Intelligent Technology: From "Device Connectivity" to "Data Empowerment".
Industry intelligent technology is no longer limited to the automation of individual machine tools; it has built a digital ecosystem covering the entire lifecycle. Leading companies are accelerating its application: Shenyang Machine Tool's i5 series uses sensors to collect real-time machine tool data and uses AI to optimize machining parameters, increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by 25%. Qinchuan Machine Tool, in partnership with Huawei Cloud, has built an industrial internet platform connecting over 200 upstream and downstream suppliers, reducing order processing time by 40%. By 2025, it is expected that over 60% of key equipment at large-scale enterprises will be digitally connected.
Sustainability: Low carbon emissions across the entire supply chain are imperative.
With the dual goal of reducing carbon emissions, green environmental protection has evolved from simple energy conservation and consumption reduction to a low-carbon approach encompassing the entire lifecycle. Kede CNC's five-axis machine tools use magnetic levitation electric spindles, reducing energy consumption by 35%. Guosheng Zhike's "Machine Tool Hospital" processes over 5,000 refurbished machine tools annually, at a cost of only 50% of new ones. Furthermore, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will release the "Green Manufacturing Evaluation Standards for the Machine Tool Industry" this year, which will promote the implementation of strict indicators such as material use and recyclability.
Domestic Equipment Substitution: A Qualitative Leap from "Availability" to "Efficiency".
Domestic equipment substitution is accelerating the market penetration of high-tech products. Huazhong CNC's HNC-848D system has been installed on over 10,000 five-axis machine tools, achieving international precision standards. Domestic machine tools account for over 40% and 60% of the production lines for COMAC's C919 and CATL, respectively. User feedback: "Domestic equipment performs comparable to imported equipment, but is faster and less expensive to maintain." The proportion of imported machine tools is expected to fall below 35% by 2025.
In the machine tool industry of 2025, intelligentization will make equipment "smarter," green development will make development "more sustainable," and domestic component substitution will make the supply chain "safer." As Mao Yufeng said, "These three keywords represent the qualitative shift in China's machine tool industry from 'scale advantages' to 'technological and ecological advantages.'" In the future, we are confident that we will occupy an even more prominent position in the global high-end machine tool market.
